In the artwork Be Prepared to Leave, I infused complex emotions such as fear, anxiety, confusion, and expectations for future life into these empty cardboard boxes. This creative endeavor also incorporates my reflections on the concept of "home" and my understanding of belonging.
In this piece, I constructed a roofless house using empty cardboard boxes. At the center of the structure lies a small single bed adorned with a red blanket featuring a distinctly Chinese element. Despite its appearance, a house made of cardboard boxes cannot be called a "home"; it resembles a temporary shelter. A true home serves as an emotional sanctuary, a habitat for the soul, and a spiritual paradise. Material possessions, including houses, fall short of truly constituting a complete home. In this artwork, the cardboard boxes remain unformed into a full house, lacking a roof and the ability to provide genuine shelter for its inhabitants.
In April 2024, I broke down the house and went to another city.
